On January 9, 2022 local time, Prime Minister Mahinda of Sri Lanka met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Colombo.
Mahinda once again congratulated the Communist Party of China on its centenary, saying that Sri Lanka-China friendship has a long history. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Rice Rubber Agreement, which is of great significance to the development of bilateral relations. China is a great friend of Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka attaches great importance to developing strong Sri Lanka-China relations. Sri Lanka appreciates that China has never interfered in Sri Lanka's internal affairs, and thanks China for its long-term strong support for Sri Lanka's economic and social development. China always lends a helping hand when Sri Lanka needs it most, helping Sri Lanka overcome difficulties and keep moving forward.
